I was thrilled when Antonella contacted me on Facebook, saying that her friend had used me as their photographer and recommended me to her. A little shy at first and having to deal with teething, Declan refused to smile or cooperate with us. However once he opened up, he was nothing but sweet dimples and curious hands, wanting to touch and feel everything and enjoying his play time with mommy and daddy.
]]>Happy first birthday, Will! Always a blessing to have a child and to celebrate their first birthday – their first cake, their first interraction with many family and friends, their first official celebration since their birth. It was a pleasure meeting and working with Will and his family on this joyous day, and Will made my job easy with him being so photogenic (he LOVED the camera and especially loved when I played peek-a-boo, hiding behind the camera and popping back out again).
]]>Sweet Rose turned one and was completely surrounded by her closest friends and family. It was a fiesta filled with an abundance of food, sweets, and fun activities… the biggest and most special being the cake-smashing! Like most one-year olds, she wasn’t quite sure what to make of the big cake set in front of her, but after a while she went all hands in! Thank you to Leslie and Brian for asking me to be a part of Rose’s special day and moment!
]]>Gabi turns one! It’s always a special event when your baby turns one and I couldn’t feel more blessed to be a part of Gabi’s first birthday. She had an amazing time with a house-full of loved ones, beautiful butterfly decor, an awesome birthday cake, and sweet cookies.

]]>After having met Ryan & Kirsten at a lunch with by my boyfriend, who has known the couple for years, I knew that we would be friends. They were so casual and carefree, and just overall pleasant. Little did I know that I would soon be photographing for them… When Kirsten contacted me in regards to my services for her daughter’s one year birthday and portrait session, I was thrilled. It was a perfect opportunity to not only get to know them better, but to showcase another beautiful family on my blog and website. It was also in good fortune for my boyfriend, who had recently started training to be my second shooter (since my other one has currently become pregnant – CONGRATS, BECCA!!). Since he was already comfortable with this couple, the session was less stressful and overwhelming for him.
We had a lot of fun playing with Gabi and her balls and monkey, and then capturing the family run around and playing on the playground (Gabi’s first time ever playing on one).

Mac Cassity, of Extreme Fun & Fit Boot Camp, held a members-only hike and circuit training session at Alpha Ridge Community Park. Twenty members showed up to enjoy the beautiful spring weather, but more importantly, to get their butts kicked by Mac. And boy was it a butt kicking. Between the intense hike going straight uphill to straight downhill, Mac created a training course consisting of squats, shoulder presses using fallen trees, running and balancing on larger fallen trees, russian soldiers, and much more. By the end, everyone was exhausted, sweaty, and ready for a nice cold beverage.

]]>Had an awesome save-the-date photo shoot with Darcie & TJ, who had recently booked me for their wedding in September. When I was a client service representative at Pender Veterinary Centre, I worked at the same location as Darcie but never really spoke with her. However, she knew I was a photographer through Monica, a co-worker of mine, and had seen my photos on Facebook, so she knew my style was a good fit for her wedding and pre-wedding photos. Needless to say, I was super excited to not only be booking another wedding for 2013, but to also get a chance to get to know another cool couple.
The day of our save-the-date session was full of surprises. Even though it wasn’t in the forecast, minutes before we began shooting it began raining and snowing. On top of that, it was night-time so no chance of the sun warming us up. Darcie and TJ were troopers and rode out the storm, and got some unique and fun shots!

Ruth Carbo, of Ruth Carbo Events, and I met through my friend who hooked us up since both Ruth and I were in the same boat of starting our own business. Months later, Ruth contacted me to photograph her new baby boy and her family … and I couldn’t be more excited to do so! The whole family was extremely easy-going and warm, and baby Alex was adorable in all his costume changes!

I met Lauren when we were bridesmaids in a mutual friend’s wedding and, after she saw the photos I took at the friend’s wedding, she really wanted me shoot to her engagement session – I couldn’t have been more happy or honored! They came to the park eager and filled with ideas. They mentioned how parks were extremely special and important to them so location was key. They are also both in the military and wanted to show their patriotism … they were extremely tempted to come in their Halloween outfits where Zack’s pants were blue and white striped and the theme was the American flag. That definitely would have made for the most interesting shoot; unfortunately, he didn’t bring the attire. Regardless, we were able to get beautiful shots and capture wonderful moments between the two lovebirds.

]]>Starting off the new year right as Charlie Brotman, the presidential inaugural’s announcer for the past sixty-three years, turned eighty-five. They celebrated it at Georgetown’s Tony and Joe’s, a celebration filled with old and new friends and an official roasting. I was excited and proud to be a part of the celebration, and enjoyed the jokes and memories shared. Below is just a highlight of the event!

]]>Having met in kickboxing and becoming acquainted after she declined my invitation to join my tough mudder team, Deb and I formed a friendship where she kicked my butt in class and I took photographs for her and her family. A friendship that benefits the both of us!! Earlier in the year, I shot her son’s senior portraits and this time, she asked me to shoot her family for her mother’s Christmas gift. I have to say, they were some of the nicest and most welcoming people and such a joy to work with!
]]>I met Mac when I purchased his groupon for bootcamp sessions … little did I know he’d be the toughest trainer I’ve met! But the nicest, too. I may have purchased his groupons, but he started purchasing my photography sessions, starting with photographing his bootcamp classes and then deciding to book me for a family session. He, his beautiful daughters, darling girlfriend, and sweet puppy suffered through the wintry chill for a great and fun session on his friend’s property. The results were stunning!!!!
